Orange County provides counseling and assistance on all VA matters and assists military personnel, veterans, and their families before, during, and after deployments. Veterans of military service, particularly those deployed to combat areas, are at increased risk for mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and problems functioning in social and work settings. An experienced and knowledgeable staff provides counseling services by phone or in person at the OCVSA Goshen office, and when needed, directs veterans to other resources available to them.

The Veterans Service Agency helps veterans to get the proper recognition they deserve for their service. Veterans service representatives are ready and able to assist County veterans in obtaining medals, ribbons, and any other decorations that were awarded during active duty. The OCVSA can also help veterans acquire lost or damaged documents required to file for federal, state, or county benefits. These documents may include military personnel records and medical records.
The Orange County Veterans Food Pantry, which is housed at the ShopRite Supermarket in Montgomery, makes weekly deliveries to the homes of Veterans. Food Pantry participants receive non-perishable food items, as well as essential household supplies. This program is open to active duty, surviving family members, National Guard, Reserve veterans and their spouses, with food being delivered directly to the doorstep.

Orange County's Veterans Van service provides free transportation to and from medical appointments at Castle Point and the Bronx VA Medical Centers. The Veterans Van makes stops at 12 different pick-up locations throughout Orange County.
From the Orange Couty Veterans Service Agency Website:
We are only giving rides to veterans going to Castle Point and Bronx VA Hospitals for essential appointments (chemotherapy, dialysis, infusions) with a maximum of three (3) riders a day. This is to minimize the amount of people near one another in an enclosed space. Please call 845 291-2470 to reserve transportation for ESSENTIAL MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS ONLY!
The following list of Veteran and military discounts are good all year round and will be updated as we learn of more. These discounts are being shared so that Veterans, military members, their families, caregivers and survivors are aware of all resources available to them. Discounts were last verified in October 2021.
